ROLE/RESPONSIBILITY:
An exciting / young New York-based startup is seeking a UI designer and developer for a highly innovative web application. The purpose of the application is to provide a compelling interface to disruptive real-time infrastructure capabilities developed internally. This is not your typical web application and will require someone who appreciates a challenge and is willing to push the envelope. Taking on this project will be equivalent to the Twitter team figuring out an appropriate UI for a system that simply does 140 character status updates or Google team figuring out an appropriate UI for Google Wave. The backend is highly disruptive and we need someone who can think outside the box in order to design / develop an interface that supports and highlights the capabilities.
Initially the compensation will solely be in equity, however upon funding candidate will also receive cash compensation. The team consists of seasoned entrepreneurs that have previously raised millions in venture capital.
This is a "greenfield project" with no legacy code. The candidate will work closely with the founders to develop an application that illustrates the platforms’ capabilities.
DESIRED SKILLS
- Excellent web programming skills using Javascript, CSS, and Ajax
- Familiarity with one script language (python /php/ perl)
- Web widget design experience
- Knowledge of HTML 5 a definite plus
- XML / Database / Apache knowledge preferred
- 2+ years work experience of getting code into production.
- Comfortable in a startup, self-directed environment
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
• BS degree or equivalent
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and a team player
• Must be detailed oriented
COMPENSATION
Until the company raises its first round of funding, compensation will be solely in the form of options / equity in company. The expected timing of raising capital will be Q4 2009. If you have the ability to work part time on such a project, this is a rare opportunity to join a truly disruptive startup in the early stages.
