Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is a world renowned organization
dedicated to the progressive control and cure of cancer through programs of
patient care, research, and education.
Our research group is interested in the structural biology of pathways that are
altered in cancer, with particular emphasis on pathways that control the growth
and proliferation of the cell. In cancer, mutations and other alterations in
these pathways lead to the uncoupling of cell growth from growth-regulatory
signals and contribute to the unrestricted proliferation of the tumor cell.
In this position you will be involved in conducting molecular biology and
biochemistry experiments, under supervision, aimed at cloning and expressing
proteins in eukaryotic and prokaryotic systems. Additionally you will need to
help order chemicals and supplies used in the lab and assist with the general
maintenance of the lab.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
BS in biological science and basic biochemistry lab experience. This
position requires careful attention to detail, computer literacy, as well as the
ability to work in a cold room with radioactive materials and organic solvents.
You will also need to demonstrate proficiency in: plasmid preservations, gel
electrophoresis (DNA & proteins), cloning and gene expressions, transfections,
protein purification, chromatographic techniques.
