Environmental Health Officer. MAJOR TASKS: To carry out environmental health based inspections (including out of hours inspections when necessary), as required for the performance of the Environmental Health Division functions. To provide a rapid and effective response to requests from the public, peers and business community for Environmental Health services. To undertake appropriate and necessary investigations and ensure that appropriate action is taken in all cases and is followed through to a satisfactory conclusion. To implement statutory, administrative and associated procedures as required to carry out designated tasks. MAJOR TASKS: To be timely aware of changes and issues arising from a specific allocated field of environmental health work. To study appropriate technical literature, legislation and guidance appertaining to that field and to make recommendations to the Head of Environmental Health and to pass on relevant information to colleagues. To attend and represent the Authority at relevant technical group(s) as appropriate.To support the Head of Environmental Health in providing a response to requests for assistance and advice to the emergency services etc. out of office hours. To provide assistance and support to colleagues and cover in their absence as required.To observe the Council equalities and customer care policies in all aspects of employment and service provision.To be aware of, and comply with, Council policies in respect of health and safety at work.
